Create a lasting legacy.

Set up a deferred gift.

The Library Endowment Fund was formally established by the Board of Directors in 2009. It is a perpetual fund whose principal is invested, and the income earned from the Fund is available for the library.

Setting up a deferred gift to the Foundation offers several significant advantages for the donor, enhancing both their philanthropic impact and personal financial strategy.

Benefits of deferred gifting

  • Support Future Needs

A deferred gift lets the library foundation address emerging community enhancements. By providing an unrestricted planned gift, donors enable the Foundation to set aside resources where they are most needed, making sure the library can adapt to future challenges and opportunities.

  • Financial Security for Donors

Donors can set up a deferred gift annuity, which gives them fixed payments for life while also supporting the library's mission. This arrangement lets donors maintain their financial security while contributing to a cause they care about. For those who may not need immediate income, a deferred gift annuity can be beneficial, as it lets them plan for future financial needs while still making a significant impact.

  • Tax Benefits

Donors can enjoy various tax advantages when they establish a deferred gift. For example, they may receive a federal income tax charitable deduction when they itemize their taxes, which can reduce their overall tax burden. This makes deferred gifts not only a way to support the library but also a strategic financial decision.

  • Legacy & Personal Connection

Creating a deferred gift can also serve as a meaningful way for donors to leave a lasting legacy. Many donors find personal fulfillment in knowing that their contributions will support the library for generations to come, often honoring family members or personal experiences that shaped their love for libraries.

  • Enhanced Community Impact

By contributing to the Foundation, donors help make sure libraries can continue to provide enhanced services and resources to the community. This support can lead to improved literacy, access to information, and cultural enrichment for all community members.

Gifts to the Library Endowment Fund can be as cash, property, securities, trusts, in-kind gifts, gift annuities, wills & bequests and insurance policies.
